A report into a train derailment at Kemble on January 15 last year has found the accident was caused by debris left on the track after a wall collapsed (link below.)
http://thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=231771&command=displayContent&sourceNode=231754&home=yes&more_nodeId1=231776&contentPK=20254963

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch)) said heavy rainfall, poor drainage of the cutting slope and a reclassification of the cutting by Network Rail, which led to less frequent examinations, were all contributory factors to the accident.

The RAIB has made two recommendations as a result of the derailment, both relating to the management of wall structures and their infrastructure.

The inestigatory body will also hold a further investigation into the management of earthworks by Network Rail, specifically looking at the earthworks at Kemble.

"The A433 between Cirencester and Tetbury in Gloucestershire had to be closed to traffic after a heavy goods vehicle hit a railway bridge.  The lorry struck the Thames Head bridge just after 1100 GMT on Tuesday.  The lorry driver was not injured, although trains were stopped while engineers assessed the damage.  A spokesman for First Great Western (FGW (First Great Western)) Trains said the bridge was fine and trains would resume running normally."

Thanks for posting that, dog box.

I'm sure there are quite a few members here who knew Malcolm, and on behalf of all of them, may I offer condolences and sympathy to his family and friends, from this forum.

At the station the car park will cost you ^3.20 for the day from the ticket machine. Or ^2.80 via Apcoa Connect.

336 spaces according to FGW (First Great Western).

Others will no doubt know whether that car park fills regularly.
