Fatality at Tuffley (Gloucester)

Sorry to report that there was a fatality at Tuffley, (South Gloucester), on Tuesday 9th March.  Deceased was an adult male.

The train was crewed by the Bristol depot.  Both driver and guard are back at work today.  Once again a tribute to the courage and professionalism of train crews.

From the Gloucester local press:

A man was killed when he was struck by a train in Gloucester yesterday.
Emergency services, including the County Air Ambulance and British Transport Police were called to the Robinswood foot crossing off Northfield Road at 10.40am.
The man, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Transport police investigating the accident on the railway track through White City said there were no suspicious circumstances.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "BTP^▸ (British Transport Police) can confirm that a man has died after being struck by a train at Robinswood foot crossing off Northfield Road in Gloucester today. The incident is being treated as non-suspicious. The train involved was the 8.45am Westbury to Gloucester rail service."
The accident caused delays on the line until early afternoon, by which time the track had been cleared.

The man who died at a railway crossing on Tuesday is expected to be named by the coroner next week.
A post mortem examination is expected to take place tomorrow and the inquest in to his death is likely to open on Monday.
The man died at the Robinswood foot crossing off Northfield Road in Gloucester at around 10.40am.
