A little bird has whispered that guards at Bristol TM‡ are being checked by management to ensure that they are wearing lack or navy socks with their uniforms. Understandably, this has caused minor resentment but major hilarity. Should an unsuspecting member of the public come upon rail staff examining each other's lower limbs, there is thus, no cause for alarm.

If there is such a fairly laughable management policy, I trust it is being applied equally stringently to male and female guards? My personal opinion is that some guards could do with having a shave before starting work in the morning - but that applies only to some of the males, obviously!

It is true...sadly. And...males do not get issued with socks, but females get tights.
Should seek equality ............ I say FGW▸ should issue their male guards with tights as well There is obviously a serious side to what FGW are wanting to do, as the examples of appearance of a minority of its staff does let the majority down but the managers would be better targeting those individuals

Shouldn't train crew have to wear luminous orange socks so they can be seen?
Presumably track workers are already issued with orange socks.

I hope no-one on here is foolish enough to believe that this actually was happening. I know for a FACT that it wasnt.
Although it has given management a good laugh.
