I stupidly left an important file on the 1702 Worcester to Southampton train on Tuesday 18th November when I got off at Swindon. I've phoned the lost property department a few times but have had no luck. Anybody got any tips?

Does anybody know where the unit on that service (a 153) ends its day. From looking at the public timetable I think it works the 2120 service to Westbury after arriving at Southampton - does it then go on depot?

I've been given a number for Westbury but nobody picks up.

Any help much appreciated.

that 2120 from southampton normally has a set swap on arrival at westbury but sometimes it ends up going to bristol and finishing on spm depot.

keep trying the westbury number they would have it in the office if it was found and handed in.
failing that try the lost property again and see if they can contact the depot.

Much appreciated. Government secrets they ain't but quite important to me!

It is a black lever arch file and it was on the 18th November.

Thanks very much for posting about that happy result, autotank!  Wink

Quite coincidentally, I've posted elsewhere this evening an example of how 'lost property' (which can so easily cause bad publicity, when the way it is dealt with is less than honest) can also be very good news when it is handled well: see http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=4011.0

In that particular case, it does appear that the ^30,000 in used bank notes may have been rather dodgy.  On the other hand, if it represents the life savings of some poor forgetful old soul who carried it around with her, rather than entrusting it to an Icelandic bank - at least she could be reunited with it straight away!

Well done to the railway staff concerned, in both cases.  Wink Cheesy Grin

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

To continue the praise my journey to collect the file was reasonably priced for a walk on fair, punctual and clean. Thumbs up all round First Great Western! Things are definately getting better as far as I'm concerned.

Less of the old and less of the she please....  I can't help being forgetful!  Grin
