I've just stumbled on a story in the Maidenhead Advertiser from last week, which didn't actually cause any problems for the trains - so it didn't feature here at the time!

Traffic chaos was caused when one of Datchet's two level crossings was closed all day yesterday.  The Mays crossing was closed after developing a fault in the early hours.  Traffic was forced to use the one remaining crossing until 4.50pm, while tests were carried out on the malfunctioning one.

Train services were not affected but queues of traffic built up during the day all the way back to the Gandhi's Indian Restaurant in Old Windsor two miles away.

However, I thought the picture of a Network Rail van parked broadside across the road was quite amusing: clearly no hope for any frustrated motorists wanting to 'run the risk' there, eh??   Grin

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

For those not aware Datchet is not on FGW▸ (First Great Western)'s route it is served by SWT▸ (South West Trains).
