Does anyone know if their are any Devon > London commuters on a daily basis , either to Waterloo or Paddington? maybe some of you are...

i was standing on honiton station today and there was a couple who travel from honiton to reading every week.... today despite the delays the diversion actually made things alot easyer for them and alot of the people on the platform were for reading and padington

there main complaints were overcrowding on the fgw service ( not just today) and waiting at chard junction for sometimes upto 40 mins for a train to pass (by which time the train could have reached yeovil before the train in the opposite direction had even arrived there)

am i correct in thinking that if this line was doubled or a few more passing loops put in that this route to paddington would actually be quicker?

I have known of one person that commuted daily from Castle Cary to Paddington every day but I don't know if anyone does it from Taunton, Tiverton Parkway or Exeter.  It should in theory be possible to commute from Newton Abbot or even Plymouth but I don't think anyone would want to spend 6 hours on a train every day commuting.  I don't know why the Paddington to Penzance season ticket exists, I doubt anyone has one.

daily i cant see it happening but there will be alot monday morning and friday night second homes and all that

Given the relative price changes over the last few years, a long-distance season is worthwhile nowadays if you're doing two return trips to London in the week.

An even more bizarre example than Penzance to Paddington : one used to be listed in the Fares Manual for Newquay to Ealing Broadway with route 'Not London'.

at TVP on a weekday eve - FGW (First Great Western) from Paddington empties with the London Working Type - Same with XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) from Bristol way.

for the FGW (First Great Western) network - I have all the books, find them in the ticket hall at EXD» (Exeter St Davids - next trains).

The timetables in the above link, although named "UK (United Kingdom)" only cover Great Britain and do not have times of trains in Northern Ireland.
