After the cancellation of half of the morning services yesterday (sorry - in my book starting a train at Westbury and leaving out Swindon, Chippenham, Melksham and Trowbridge is a cancellation!), we appear to have more chaos this morning ...

06:10 Frome to London Paddington due 08:11
This train has been revised. It will no longer call at: Pewsey, Bedwyn, Hungerford, Kintbury, Newbury, Thatcham, Theale and Reading West. This is due to a broken down train.

05:46 Exeter St Davids to London Paddington due 08:39
This train has been revised. It will no longer call at: Pewsey, Hungerford and Newbury. This is due to a broken down train.

0903 arrival at Cheltenham Spa from Westbury
First Great Western
* This train has been cancelled.
Last updated: 30/09/2008 08:35:10
Previous Calling Points:
Timetabled Departure    Expected Departure      Actual Departure
Westbury        0702            0712
Trowbridge      0708            0722
Melksham        0717            No report
Chippenham      0730            0743
Swindon         0754            0805

I'm not exactly sure WHAT the "live departures" report from Cheltenham is telling me - I looked up that station as the final destination of the train as it would have been gone from the TransWilts leg by the time I was alerted to problems.  But it is not (yet? won't?) show on the FGW (First Great Western) log page.

Significantly perhaps - both days problems are blamed on train failures ...

Thanks for that confirmation ... the live departure report said "cancelled" but then gave times.  Perhaps it only got as far as Gloucester to was cancelled at Cheltenham?

0519 Gloucester - Southampton ran throughout.
0702 Westbury - Cheltenham Spa was indeed cancelled between Gloucester and Cheltenham due to late running.

A failure at Newbury caused problems.  As posted above, both Melkshams ran, albeit with a later departure from Trowbridge for the up service.

There was also a points failure at Platform 3 BPW» (Bristol Parkway - next trains), (mid day) which caused short term havoc.  All Up/Charfield Line services using Plat 4

Thanks for confirmation of what happened yesterday - explains why the report I got said "cancelled" but showed times at most of the stations (Melksham excepted).  Is the information point at Melksham working at the moment, or would people have been left guessing?
