A cluster of disruption by the look of it. From the FGW (First Great Western) website :

13:10 Weston-Super-Mare to Bristol Parkway due 14:03

This train will be terminated at Bristol Temple Meads. It will no longer call at: Lawrence Hill, Stapleton Road, Filton Abbey Wood and Bristol Parkway. This is due to a train fault.

13:38 Westbury to Bristol Parkway due 14:35

This train has been revised. It will additionally call at: Bristol Temple Meads. It will no longer call at: Filton Abbey Wood and Bristol Parkway. This is due to an earlier train fault.

14:12 Bristol Parkway to Weston-Super-Mare due 14:59

This train will be started from Bristol Temple Meads. It will no longer call at: Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood. This is due to an earlier train fault.

14:47 Bristol Parkway to Bristol Temple Meads due 15:07

This train has been cancelled. This is due to an earlier train fault.

Not worth a thread of it's own, but....

The 07:00 train from Chippenham to Paddington was delayed by 25 minutes this morning because of a lack of train crew - apparently the relief guard didn't turn up at BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)) this morning, so another chap who was supposed to be going to Paddington on a shunting course today instead rushed home to get his stuff, came back and stood in for him so the train could get away. Just in case anyone knows the bloke concerned: huge thanks from me and I am sure a number of other passengers for inconveniencing yourself so that we could get to work on time.

It only left Bristol 9 minutes late, 18 from Chippenham

A string of cancellations and short workings between Bath and Bristol today due to 'a problem with line-side equipment' - my 17:28 Warminster- Great malvern train started at Westbury so I was an hour late getting home to Oldfield park.

All I know is I was booked on the 7:25 from Chippenham and was held up by 1 minute by the late-running train before it. There's scheduled to be half an hour between trains from Chippenham. If FGW (First Great Western) want to try and claim 30 minutes is actually the same as 18 minutes that's fine by me; just don't expect me to be taken in by it.

The service you refer to was the 0640 Bristol - Paddington, so there was in fact, only a scheduled 20 minute gap.
