I was in fact referring to the state of the 158s externally. The front end for example. I appreciate the yellow surrounds around the light may wear off, but the half coated finish as many of them are looks awful!

correct wabtec painted over the old yellow on screen and light surrounds with black, over time this has worn off making them look tatty.

the whole fleet will be having some items addressed that have came to light since refresh

And hopefully somebody will see the light and fit the Liebherr type airconditioning to the ex TPex sets as well.

not going to happen fgw think the old system reconditioned is better.

if temperature was better then SWT (South West Trains) would have kept it on their fleet.

Are there plan to correct all of the faults whcih have appeared, which I understand have been covered heavily with duct tape?  Surely this is covered by a warranty of the parts?

It isn't though, thats why SWT did the decent thing and got shot of it and installed Liebherr kit instead. EBAC and Temperature kit is generally speaking as much use as a handbrake on a canoe.....

Oh, the heating's working alright, smithy: on my occasional use of a 158 (which turns up sometimes on the 08:59 to BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI) but BTM is a commonly used alternative))), it's been chucking out hot air - since last winter!  Huh Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
