Service: 12:00 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads on 01/07/2008 operated by First Great Western.
Details: This train has been revised. It will no longer call at: Reading, Swindon, Chippenham and Bath Spa. This is due to earlier emergency engineering works.

19 late off Paddington, bang on time passing Bath Spa.

If it arrives Bristol on time, I make it a journey time of 1h24...

If it arrived early it would have had time to make at least one of its stops!  It arrived at Bath on time so should have stopped there!  Doesn't this just illustrate that the performance stats are more important than the passengers!

I suspect FGW (First Great Western) weren't actually thinking on the basis it would catch up so time (nearly 30 minutes!) - it also shows the slack in the schedule.

Looks like an average speed of around 93/4 mph.

Wonder if he stuck to 110 or went up to 125.

I'd say there is a fair bit of 125 in there due to the various speed restrictions along the way (Reading, Swindon and Bath - Bristol come to mind).

Arrived 8 mins early? They could have made 2 stops, and still arrived early!

And surely FGW (First Great Western) know how much slack they have in their own timetable?

an 11 minute delay to BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI) but BTM is a commonly used alternative)) would be enough to loose your connection

Where is there a 110mph on the main line between Paddington and Bristol via Swindon?

There isn't

Speeds are Paddington 40-50-125-95-50-125-85-125-100-75-40-90-100-25-Bristol Temple Meads
