I understand that the average train driver’s salary on the line is £72,465 for a 34-hour, four-day week - which would have risen by £3,261 to £75,726 under the proposed 4.5%.

I'm not sure it'll attract too much public sympathy, and 4.5% is comfortably above CPI.

Is this dispute about more than money?

NEW: strike action on the Elizabeth Line scheduled for 27/02 and 01/03 is suspended following a revised offer from the company, which ASLEF» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about)'s executive committee will meet to consider tomorrow.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
