Whilst it's never great to see the map covered in red lines, at least this weekend (as well as the inevitable staff shortage related cancellations), much of the disruption is due to engineering works, which I am told (amongst other activity) involves installing new rails between Reading and Paddington - hopefully this might help to relieve the virtually daily disruption and meltdowns which have been a feature of this route over the past couple of months?

Cancellations to services between Reading and Newbury
Due to a points failure between Reading and Reading West some lines are blocked. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Train services between Reading and Newbury may be cancelled.
Network Rail staff are working to fix the points. To do this they will have to close the line completely from 21:30 for around 90 minutes.
During this time, we will not be able to run any trains between Reading and Newbury, in either direction. We will have some replacement transport in place, but this will not run to train times. Your journey may take longer to complete.

Alterations to services between Didcot Parkway and Oxford

Train services running through these stations will be delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 20:30 07/04.
Customer Advice As a result of the emergency services dealing with an incident the line between Didcot Parkway and Oxford has been closed to train movements.
The alternative route for GWR▸ ticket holders to use Chiltern Railways services between London Marylebone and Oxford in both directions is no longer a viable option owing to a train failure on that route.

Radley, unfortunately.
GWR▸ Help advising that there's no bus availability (direct fast service buses are present, take 40 mins DID▸ -OXF» , serve station), and alternative offering was *serious suggestion* DID-PAD» -MYB▸ (free pass) - OXF - takes almost 3 hours unless fast DID-PAD used.
Called out the "assistant" and suggested that they try it out one day.

Cancellations to services between Reading and London Paddington
Due to a broken rail between Reading and London Paddington the London Paddington bound high speed line is blocked.
Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or terminated at and started back from Reading. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Customer Advice - We're sorry for the delay to your journey. Due to a broken rail in the Twyford area, the high speed line towards London Paddington is blocked. This means our high speed long distance trains will need to share the line with other operators local stopping trains. This will cause delays due to congestion. - In order to reduce the delay to your journey, we may need to terminate or start some trains at Reading instead of London Paddington. - Your tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on Elizabeth Line services between Reading and London Paddington. Please note, Elizabeth Line services are also affected by this issue
