1. Is the Swanage Railway’s DMMU (Diesel Mechanical Multiple Unit), a class 117 leading a class 121 ‘bubble car’ between Corfe Castle and Norden.

Neither train is particularly unusual in it’s own right, but the fact that they are registered for mainline running, and have carried fare-paying passengers on the national network in recent years, does make them unique.

Sadly those days seem to have passed, and I don’t expect they’ll be seen running into Wareham under their own power anytime soon.

5.  Is a 1938 Class 483 EMU▸ (Electric Multiple Unit), ex-tube stock, running on the Island Line, Isle of Wight.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

7. is a Portuguese carriage, originally made in 1973 by Sorefame, and renovated by CP for use on regional services. They do look rather American, and apparently the local welded stainless steel designs were inspired by some bought from Budd in the 1940s. Ages well, that stainless steel, doesn't it?

3 is presumably one of the class 66s (or a model derived from it) sold to Deutsche Bahn, operating in it's home country

And, yes, Portugal, Hungary, Shanklin and Swanage all correct
