Call for evidence

The Department for Transport is developing a strategy which will set the high-level direction for how transport should be designed, built and operated in England over the next 10 years.

It will set out a single national vision which will put people who use transport and their needs at its heart and empower local leaders to deliver integrated transport solutions that meet the needs of their local communities.

To help us create the strategy, we are now asking people:
* about their experience of transport in England
* what we could do to make it better

We want to hear from:
* people who use any form of transport, including cars, vans, motorbikes, mopeds, trains, underground, metro, trams, buses, minibuses, coaches, bikes, e-bikes, walking or wheeling
* frontline transport workers – people who work in the transport industry
* companies and organisations that operate in the transport sector

Responses to this call for ideas will be considered in the drafting of the Integrated National Transport Strategy.

Wherever possible, especially when redevelopments are taking place, co-locate major railway stations and bus stations/interchanges.

Exeter being a classic example of how NOT to do it. And the people who decided to destroy the rather excellent former Cardiff Bus Station should probably receive a good kicking.

For a pretty damning assessment of this exercise, I suggest listening to, or watching, last week's Green Signals podcast (starting at 30-42 on the You Tube version), also pretty damning of Heidi Alexander's start as Secretary of State, the latter in contrast to the presenters' (Messrs Harris and Bowker) assessment of her predecessor.

I think the best response would be that this questionnaire is totally inadequate, please try again.

‘Roadshow’ events – Integrated National Transport Strategy

The Department for Transport (DfT» (Department for Transport - about)) is developing an Integrated National Transport Strategy (INTS) which will set the high-level direction for how transport should be designed, built, and operated in England over the next ten years.

To help inform this strategy, DfT are running a series of 11 half-day ‘roadshow’ events across England in February and March to gather views on how the strategy can achieve its aims and understand regional perspectives from key stakeholders.

You can apply to attend the roadshows using the relevant Eventbrite links below.

PLEASE NOTE:

There is a very tight deadline to apply for some of the roadshows – please ensure that if you are interested in attending, you read the full instructions and submit your application by the deadline listed;
The DfT is operating a waitlist system to make sure they have a representative split of organisations and attendees from across the regions at each event. Should your application to attend be successful (and this is not guaranteed to be the case), you will receive a further email inviting you to claim your spot. You must complete your registration and receive a ticket to attend.
