A "populist" headline on an important topic.   The freedom to use and view the internet content you wish versus the freedom of others around you to not be subjected to overhearing / overseeing what you hear and see.

Reading further into the Northern Railway press release (thanks for the link, Infoman) took me to the Friendly Wifi site at  https://www.friendlywifi.com

Quote
Welcome to Friendly WiFi

Friendly WiFi is the government-initiated safe certification standard for public WiFi. The Friendly WiFi symbol tells you where the Public WiFi service meets minimum filtering standards – particularly in areas where children are present.

The certification is available across all sectors, including retail, hospitality, transport and the education sector.

There is a whole can of worms here ... personally there is screen content (not just Internet) that I will call up on my screen at home that I won't call up in a more public place - even as local as when I was connecting and testing in the Bethesda Church Hall in Trowbridge the other day.    It's far wider than "headline" stuff of dating sites, etc, and only displaying child-friendly content - it's also about maintaining the privacy of data sent.
