Across the West is now on top of the forum as one of the most popular boards here - it's intended for general posts concerning issues right across the FGW (First Great Western) area.   But, PLEASE, can you use the other boards just below where they're appropriate.  They are ....

[snip]

Truly remarkable how little these (and the message) have changed over the years.

* Look here and see if there is something more appropriate before using "Across the West"
* If you are looking for a specific LINE or STATION, please use one of the ourney by Journey boards
* Away from National Rail, consider  Sideshoots - associated topics boards. Here is where we look at history, heritage lines, and new campaigns, as well as posts that give you news about the Coffee Shop itself and provide assistance here.

If you can't find something and suspect (or know) it has been covered before, put a keyword or two into the Deep Search box - a facility which my log files suggest is hideously underused!

At the time of writing we have these general public readable boards ...

Introductions and chat

Looking forward - the next 5, 10 and 20 years

Who's who on Western railways

Smoke and Mirrors

Fare's Fair

Your rights and redress

The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom

The Wider Picture Overseas

Buses and other ways to travel

Active travel: Cyclists and walkers, including how the railways deal with them

Diary - what's happening when?

Media about railways, and other means of transport

and we have a couple of "specialist purpose" boards

Meet the Manager - public readable and commentable by members, but new topics are limited to moderators and admins in the lead up to, during, and following up on the opportunities which we are delighted to host for GWR (Great Western Railway) managers to meet us.

The Rumour Mill - NOT public this one.  If there's something that you are not sure of, please post it here. One of our moderator team will be able to move it to a public board should the content be confirmed / corroborated.

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
