Not just railways - highways & generally. Very wet spring has seriously encouraged growth this year.

Engineers are working at the sight to cut back the foliage.

Is that really what they wrote?  Shocked

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Presumably on-site to improve the sight lines. Similar problems on roads.

Delays to services between Reading and London Paddington

Due to a points failure between Reading and London Paddington some lines are blocked.
Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed. Disruption is expected until 16:00 24/06.

......and apparently a signal failure at Slough as well now.

Now expected until 17.00.  Which will become 18.00 and then 19.00.

May as well say ‘delays expected until 2035, and that’s being ambitious’.

Services looked like they had recovered by about 2030 (the time, not the year). But don't worry, I'm sure there will be another infrastructure issue along soon, especially as temperatures will be rising over the next few days.

I believe it was a separate issue, the other side of Slough, that caused disruption beyond 17:00, happening just after the first fault had been rectified and with full 'normal working resumed' at around 18:10.  Of course, 'NWR' doesn't mean everything is back on time straight away as stock and crew are late and displaced for later workings for many hours after.

At least the techs weren't far away I suppose.

And now speed restrictions
13:38 London Paddington to Didcot Parkway due 14:51
13:38 London Paddington to Didcot Parkway due 14:51 will be started from Reading.
It will no longer call at London Paddington, Slough, Maidenhead and Twyford.
This is due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures.

Applies to many trains, not just this one.

I guess they aren’t using the crossovers at Slough as a precautionary measure.

From National Rail website

Route(s) affected
To / from London Paddington

A failure of the electricity supply is causing disruption to journeys running to / from London Paddington.

As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

We anticipate disruption will continue until 16:00.
