This is a time of great opportunity and great risk for public transport across the region.

See http://grahamellis.uk/blog1326.html a very long article indeed

There NEEDS TO BE a co-ordianting meeting for Melksham, perhaps under the auspices of the "Melksham Rail Development Group" or the "Melksham Transport User Group" - re-envigourating.  I wish I had something set up / I could tell you about here, but I don't.

What I can do is to give you a date to hold in your diary - Friday 25th October- very provisionally - for a significant public community meeting here in Melksham.  I am updating at http://www.passenger.chat/29008

Blimey!  That's very long, even for one of grahame's posts.  Shocked

If I can arrange it, grahame, I'll be there - just to provide moral support and all that.  Wink

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

If a meet up time has not yet be arranged
Would it be possible to have some feed back on what meet up time would be better for most.
Taking into account, venue, distance to be travelled, train times and work commitments.

Yes - and there is something of a conundrum on that.  Afternoon or evening?  Advice and feelings to be sought locally, and bus as well as train passengers consulted.  I would hope to have a time and venue prior to 31st August.

A couple of local "committee / officer" level meetings over coming days at which details will be set. In the meantime, an opportunity taken in the cafe at the Nothe Fort on Saturday to write to the local paper.
