Two railtours through Somerset today. First was a service from Bedford to Kingswear hauled by LNER» (London North Eastern Railway - about) Class A4 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley. Followed soon after by a service from London Paddington to Minehead hauled by LMS▸ (London Midland Scottish - 1923 to 1948) Stanier Class 5 ('Black Five') 44871. This second train actually started from Slough due to the locomotive being late off the depot at Southall.

I videod both from the footbridge at Norton Fitzwarren. Sir Nigel Gresley gave us a long whistle. Apologies for the babbling kiddies in the videos!

The service to Kingswear was hauled to Taunton by top and tailed Class 47s. Leading the way, in BR▸ (British Rail(ways)) ScotRail livery was 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer'.

As I was with JayMac on the bridge at Norton Fitzwarren, I won't post my pics. However, I did catch Sir Nigel on the approach to Exeter St David's on its return journey from Kingswear to Bedford.
