I hope this is not where you end up if you want to visit the Gents at Temple Meads at the moment......

Over the road from the incline at TM(resolve) in the stairwell that used to connect to the now removed footbridge and moving stairway?..

I'm thinking it's somewhere in the catacombs beneath Temple Meads but how even RS would have gained access to there baffles me.

It is indeed ‘beneath Temple Meads’, but no special privileges were required…

Ah, have the works for the new entrance revealed this to public view?

I think you could always see it, if you knew where to look…

Hmmm, I'm confined to a well known lodge accommodation based gated community near a popular lion enclosure.  I'll have to properly investigate this at the weekend.

For a few years I worked for the post office based at the sorting office by Temple Meads, and on several occasions did shifts which included working on the platform at Temple Meads when the mail train arrived. I can't remember now what the staircase looked like that led us to the platform (we probably used the lift to get there but there would have been a staircase) so am wondering whether this was it, as it certainly looks bleak enough to be!

It isn’t part of the mail conveyor complex. I agree it looks bleak, but that probably wasn’t always the case!

This makes me wonder if I've been thinking about the wrong structure and if it's actually part of the old Brunel building undercroft.  The problem still remains with me as to precisely where it is viewable from.

Of course!  It's the stairs up to Platform 14.  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
