6V74 0948 Exeter Riverside N.Y. to St Blazey Ss
Had been hiccupping towards Dawlish, causing delays behind it.
Stopped at Dawlish Warren to permit traffic to pass.
RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) shows 1Z99 at Exeter and heading towards the failed unit.
1Z99 vanished (assuming coupled to 6V74) which was then towed back to Exeter (yard?).
Showed at platform 5 at Exeter, then vanished.

Unfortunately RTT can't cope with traffic reversing and returning, so couldn't see it there once it arrived on the up line; neither was it showing on RTT at Exeter.

Exeter MOM (Mobile Operations Manager) drove to Dawlish Warren, collected the driver of DB» (Deutsche Bahn - German State Railway - about) Cargo's 6V74 and took him back to Exeter Riverside to collect Colas Rail's Class 37, 37607, which the DB Cargo driver was fortunately passed to drive. 6V74's driver then took the 37 back to his failed train, hooked up and dragged it back to Riverside.

Bit of a team effort.  In the initial stages GWR (Great Western Railway) sent one of their fitters to see if he could fix the loco.

And GWR (Great Western Railway) had a HST (High Speed Train) prepped ready to help too if Colas refused use of the 37.

Cancellations to services between Plymouth and Totnes
Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Plymouth and Totnes all lines are blocked.
Train services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 12:30 21/06.
Customer Advice
We regret that due the Emergency Service dealing with an incident near Totnes, the line between Plymouth and Totnes is currently blocked. Reopening the line is likely to take time, as such we do not have a estimate yet as to when trains will start running. Longer distance trains are likely to terminate at Exeter St. David's, or in some cases, Newton Abbot. Limited road transport is operating between Exeter St. David's and Plymouth. A limited train service is opearting between Penzance and Plymouth, although will currently go no further.

Until it does, trains to Plymouth and beyond are being diverted via Okehampton and Tavistock. Change at Exeter St. David's for trains to Newton Abbot. 2U24 1449 Plymouth to Cardiff Central arrived at Teignmouth but now heading back to Newton Abbot.
But there is a 2Z24 heading towards St Davids.
There is also a 2Z24 already sitting at Newton!
1C82 1303 London Paddington to Plymouth is currently sitting at Dawlish Warren.

1C82 made it to Newton, so guessing it is the up line that's blocked, so single line running for a while.

The Down line is not bi-directional, so will be blocked for a while.
