'Heavy rain flooding the railway' is perhaps understandable - Storm Bert and all that.  Roll Eyes

But such a litany of 'cancellation due to a shortage of train crew' shows that GWR (Great Western Railway) are now merely providing a 'Monday to Friday' train service.  Sad

From RTT» (Real Time Trains - website), it looks like a handful of services this evening have run from Paddington to Oxford, then disappeared from the reports until they emerge in Worcester having gone another way - presumably Cheltenham?

As I write, the 21:36 Paddington-Worcester is pootling along the Stroud Valley, having reversed at Oxford. It was advertised (if that's the right term) to call at Swindon only.

RTT reports that three trains went that way - the 18:36, 19:36 and 21:36 from Paddington. They all ran very late, so the Stroud route can't have been easy. But Control has made certain that there's three trains ready for service at Worcester on Monday morning, though the Hereford starter won't be in place.

Somewhat concerning that "shortage of train crew" cancellations are becoming more frequent on scheduled day time weekday services.

With the following rammed full 1W30 1523 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street service held at Oxford for 16 minutes. Just what's needed when temperatures are struggling to get above freezing.

Edit - the 14:53 was partially re-instated terminating at Oxford. But same impact and squeeze on those wishing to travel to the Cotswolds.
