There's a report in The Times today reporting "Great Western Railway (GWR (Great Western Railway)), which runs services in the west of England and Wales, paid 1.43 million [delay] claims [in the financial year to April], the most of any operator and an 80 per cent increase on 2022-23." I suspect claims in 2024-25 could be even higher.

Some oddities in the late evening last night according to RTT» (Real Time Trains - website):

1W41 20:52 London Paddington to Great Malvern was on time to Evesham, but then was held there from 22:38 to 23:01. It's scheduled to take 21 minutes from there to Shrub Hill, but actually took 34, arriving at 23:35.

2E78 21:00 Bristol Temple Meads to Worcester Shrub Hill was on time to Abbotswood Junction (22:19) but passed Norton Junction at 23:11, some 48 late.

Meanwhile, 1P06 22:00 Hereford to London Paddington was held at Foregate Street from 22:45 to 23:16.

Some kind of failure at Norton Junction perhaps?
