Simon Calder/BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) warning of all Eurostar services cancelled today due to flooding in the tunnel between Ebbsfleet and St Pancras, and also forecasting widespread chaos across all rail services tomorrow due to staff shortages - Northern and Thameslink expected to be particularly badly affected today and tomorrow;

In terms of the survey, to get an official response perhaps you should ask GWR (Great Western Railway) directly?  Or Graham could ask them directly on behalf of the forum.

That makes some sense to me.

If you recall, GWR did ask the question of their stakeholders (and you posted a thread on here, Graham about that) last summer as to whether we thought that there was any demand. That was apropos going to the DfT» (Department for Transport - about) with this evidence for clearance. Obviously, NR» (Network Rail - home page) would have flagged the Paddington closure & either GWR felt with it closed, thee was little point, and/or the DfT refused to cover the costs.
