the tale of two TFW stations,treated so differently

decided to do my own survey on Chepstown and Lydney train stations,both are run by TFW.

Not on strike days and not on a school holiday week

With a combination of cross country and TFW calling at both stations

The approx footfall for both stations is 150 between first train of the day till approx 08:30am in tyhe morning.

Chepstow has a person there from 06:00am till 5pm,and I was told it was five days a week,can't comment on saturday and Sunday.

Lydney is an unstaffed station,thoughts comments any one?

Although GWR^▸ stations in past times, these days they are TfW and XC^▸ as you pointed out - and will only generate peripheral discussion here (same thing for Caldicot). Current GWR trains divert, without stopping, through there when the Severn Tunnel is closed.

They ARE included on the Freedom of Severn and Solent ticket and on my list to visit at some point; Lydney (Junction) to change to the Forest of Dean railway up to Parkend.

Lydney station is a fairly depressing place to hang around waiting for a train. It's quite a distance from the town, and has no facilities at all. I'm not sure if it even has any shelter (a friend of mine lives in the town, but it is a while since I last visited there).

I haven't ever used Chepstow station, but do intend to make use of the Freedom of Severn and Solent rover ticket this autumn, and will do so then. Previously I have always either cycled or used the bus to get to Chepstow.
