Pretty sure I read elsewhere that other TOCs (Train Operating Company) may be after them? Chiltern?

You forget that the DfT» (Department for Transport - about) are cutting the cost of running the railway

This is the reason that TPE (Trans Pennine Express) are dropping them. I can't see why the DfT would be ok to approve them transferring?

Perhaps they will be transferred to Scotland to replace the HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) that ASLEF» (Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen - about) have taken a dislike to

I would say that is a more likely scenario then them transferring to GWR (Great Western Railway) or Chiltern.  The set-up in Scotland is less focussed on short term cost savings.

I think the more likely scenario is for a 25kV power car with driving cab to be added and used on the newly electrified TPE (Trans Pennine Express)
