Lovely clean station roof ................... looking even better with the mainly blue sky above it. 1 clue, NOT GWR (Great Western Railway) territory !

My day trip to RHS Hampton Court yesterday took me through Waterloo....could it be one of the bits of roof there?  It's not dissimilar.

It looks modern but in a style to look old. No idea where it is though.

Carlisle?

Mark

Spot on !

The larger view looked absolutely stunning in the sunlight. The roof panels are now self-cleaning EFTE (look it up !)........... money well spent, I think.

An aquaintance worked on the physical work of the roof replacement at Carlisle, he was proud of his involvement.

A bit more on the new roof here: it doesn't mention that being a far lighter installation, additional structure was designed in to resist any temptation the roof might have, in high winds, to become a kite.

Have passed your link on to a family member who is an industrial abseiler. He has done work on the roof at Paddington - but not Carlisle.

I looked up the roofing material mentioned. The Wikipedia article needs updating – under "Notable buildings" it lists Carlisle station as "under construction (2017)"!
