At least they 'explain' there not-quite-right picture.  An IET (Intercity Express Train) to Looe seems unlikely, even in many years time when they're on gentler duties like the castles now are.

No, it's one of their 'stock photos of a train' at Bristol Temple Meads again, isn't it?  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Your reply is almost as late as GWRs (Great Western Railway) trains in Cornwall today  Wink  Roll Eyes

I know: I was, as usual, looking for something else when I happened to stumble across this historic topic.  Roll Eyes

Thankfully, the car driver in that particular incident was not seriously injured. Just a bloody nose, apparently.

Our frequent readers should know by now that the use of such clearly irrelevant images, in otherwise factual news articles, is something that winds me up somewhat.  It's just shoddy journalism.  Lips sealed
