Wishing King Charles and Queen Camilla a really excellent Coronation day, and a long and happy reign, not that they will actually read this. Whatever your view of our monarchy system, they have a job that I would not want, and I wish them well. http://grahamellis.uk/blog856.htmlHave a good day, however you choose to spend it. And on related notes of railways AND an earlier coronation, here is one of my favorite videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpQxDSskLxQNot just the actual trains, but the sense of optimism and progress.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard. It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc. A 5 car DMU▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

No ox roasts nearby, unfortunately. Not even a herring.

Seems someone agrees with you - although she is alone in this house.

What better occasion for a party in the park and an opportunity to promote rail travel to residents rarely see online? Leaflets were handed out from the dry. Success - enough footfall to churn up the field! The Mayor and Town Clerk: Confetti Battle (yes, it IS water soluble) Big "Thank you" to Gloria and Sara for organising the event. . We have a marvellous and dedicate team of volunteers in Melksham. Thank you Reginald25 for your help on our booth.

Is there a guard on the train? Nice photo. Judging by the fact that the sign appears to say that the next train is not scheduled to stop at this platform I am guessing that train was an extra working. Dave

No. They're definitely guardsmen. The red tunics and bearskins are a giveaway.

Dave I think the carriage of fire arms on a public service might frighten other passengers Part of the logistics planning for "Operation Golden Orb" would have been how to move 4000 service personnel in uniform with weapons, band instruments into Central London from a number of Garrison Towns around the Country I suspect the train Head Code would have been a 1Zxx (Passenger and Freight Special or short term working (not in WTT▸ )) or may be 1Xxx (Passenger and Freight - special instructions apply) The use of Z and X in the head code prevents ARS▸ (Automatic Route Setting) from setting a route, the Signallers have to path the train manually setting the route

I think the carriage of fire arms on a public service might frighten other passengers In the UK▸ , yes ... though they are allowed under condition of travel 23.5 at then discretion of the train company - who I suspect would be "leaned on" by HMG if they did not give such permission for troop movements. https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/National%20Rail%20Conditions%20of%20Travel.pdfUnloaded firearms, properly licensed, with prior permission of the Train Company and carried in accordance with the law and any other specific instructions
