Gentlemen,
You are both "right". Yes, the Gloucester enhancement have been reported earlier and elsewhere on the forum - but it can be really had to find that data sometimes, and a fresh reminder to "ping" it to the top is no bad thing. The news that it's on the BBC» this morning IS new.
In order to make the archive easier to follow in the future, one of the moderators may merge this topic with a similar one in due course, As the most recent posts on the topic, this current thread content will pop to the top based on date.

So I gather, though no-one has actually said it, that we're talking about increased train services to Gloucester ... from Bristol. It could be Worcester, Birmingham, Swindon, S Wales, or all of them. Have we got to follow an external link before we find out? It would be good if posts were self-explanatory and understandable without having to follow an external link.

I'm not sure why Radio Bristol focused solely on Bristol Temple Meads to Yate, as the new half-hourly service frequencies from 22nd May are Bristol to Gloucester and Bristol to Westbury.

Because OUR public broadcaster does not reconised neighbouring BBC» local stations, and I live in the Radio Bristol area. I once rang up to inform them of an event in Corsham.
Can't announce that, its out of our area. So all the events we do attend,we don't go out of county boundaries?

What hasn't been mentioned is the (at least theoretical) improvement of service north from Lawrence Hill and Stapleton Road. Change at Filton Abbey Wood for Gloucester, Cheltenham, Worcester, and other places not within the Radio Bristol parish.

Yup... also, this reminded me that I was thinking that Paul Clifton's recent piece on various Beeching closures on lines to the south coast that went out on BBC South's local news programme should also have been broadcast in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle... Mark

FoSBR» were up with the flatulent sparrows this morning to catch the first MetroWest half-hourly train to Yate! Awaiting the 06.10 departure from Bristol Temple Meads: Arriving at Yate: FoSBR with local campaigners and councillors. Great to see that, like us, they thought it worth getting up early to mark the occasion!

First day of the doubling of service frequency between Worcester and Bristol today. 15 trains Worcester to Bristol, and 13 from Bristol to Worcester. It's also nice to see some IETs▸ working the route as well. Both the 1056 and 1456 departures from Worcester Shrub Hill were 5 coach IETs, which makes a change from the 2 coach 158's that we normally get!
The only downside is they don't go any further than Bristol anymore. Previously they would continue on to Westbury and thence to south coast destinations such as Weymouth, Portsmouth or Brighton.
