Starting with £200 million knocked of the Active Travel budget
https://www.sustrans.org.uk/our-blog/news/2023/march/sustrans-responds-to-active-travel-funding-cuts-in-england/"Promised Government targets of 50% of all journeys in English towns and cities being walked or cycled by 2030, and for the UK▸ to be Net Zero by 2050, are made impossible by these cuts."
Is my understanding that Net Zero can be achieved by a flick of a switch on 31st December 2049 from the Government's messages. Presumably this will be reinforced by another freeze in fuel duty in the budget (after another rise in rail fares).
The local authorities have obviously got the message
Active Travel England rates councils' capability to deliver infrastructure — 94% fall in lowest three categories

Obviously none of this flat playing field stuff (and my old legs don't perform will cycling uphill).
