The new Greater Bristol Rail Network Strategic Study is with us. It is a vision of how the rail network around the Greater Bristol area should look. I have posted it for discussion here rather the Bristol Commuters (WECA^» (West of England Combined Authority - about)) thread because the report and recommendations have relevance more distantly, including Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon, Dorset and South Wales too name but a few.

The main recommendations are:



(Spoiler alert: The preceding image should not have been viewed by anyone who avoids football scores before Match of the Day starts. Maybe I should have said that sooner.)

The whole document makes for very interesting reading. How much ever comes to pass, and when, are moot points.

The rolling stock (and linked electrification) issues are mentioned in table 5.0, which imply that full electrification of the relevant network will be needed.

So get on with it?
