Maidenhead

Re-instatement of platform 1.  Should allow HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units))'s to stop in the December 2008 timetable

Twyford

New passenger footbridge with lifts.  Ground surveys have been completed, and the foundations have been marked out.  Work scheduled to start after the Henley regatta and complete for Christmas.  Just need a few engineering posessions to paint the canopies afterwards!

Isn't Reading itself having some fairly major alterations done as well? 4 extended platforms was what I heard.

Yes.  There is a lot of stuff going to happen at Reading.  I'll try and find out some more details.  But the items I had posted are going on now.

It is very good that there are improvements going on. However while they are happening, there is a loss of quite a lot of car parking spaces at Maidenhead, meaning the car parks are full earlier than they used to be.. Not sure where people park who arrive too late.. So far I've been lucky (just).. Also, one of the station entrances is shut for a few weeks.. This means I now have to drive to the station again.. After dropping the children off at school there isn't quite enough time to walk to the station as it's an extra 3 or 4 minutes to walk round to the main entrance.. I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end though, and I'm looking forward to it being finished.

Well it is the small overflow car park that I have to park in, which isn't really that close to the station at all... The other ones are full by about 7.30 each morning. The overflow one doesn't usually ever  fill up  as it's so far away.. At the moment it is though.

We can only hope, and with luck FGW (First Great Western) will reintroduce the 17:06 stop at Maidenhead as it is currently empty and the 17:18 is appalling

Well somewhere will have to take the load when Reading is in chaos for about 5 years during the rebuild
