altercation in a carriage on Saturday night, July 30
I thought there was a strike, or was that the cause of the altercation?

GWR (Great Western Railway) ran only a few trains at Reading yesterday, ending at 8 pm. CrossCountry didn't have a strike, so ran a service all day. They also ran a Reading-Paddington shuttle, up to 23:30, presumably (at least in theory) to make their services more useful. SWR» (South Western Railway - about) also had no drivers' strike, but the Reading line was closed for engineering - so there were buses. Thus at Wokingham we had no trains, but buses replacing only the SWR ones. I didn't see whether we had any engineering going on.

I think you might be getting your XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) (Cross Country) confused with your XR (Crossrail) (Crossrail - Elizabeth Line)

Platform 8 sort of indicates a reversing XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) service. But no doubt we’ll find out eventually. Totally shocking. I hope they lock up the perpetrator.

Of course I am. I hope that doesn't mean I've now got a problem with long words - the ones with two letters.
