The List in today's i newspaper is titled "Bristol is best for bikes" I will leave people more local than I to discuss that statement.

The text goes on "Get on your bike if you live in Bristol. Despite its seven hills, the city is the most cycle-friendly in UK▸ (United Kingdom), according to transport infrastructure firm Colas. ..."

The most cycle-friendly cities are:
1. Bristol
2. Edinburgh
3. Reading
4. ...

Reading not being a city, despite the best efforts of the council wasting our taxes on repeated attempts, the cycling infrastructure is dire (my personal opinion).

There is also no mention of Cambridge or Oxford in their top ten.

I hope Colas Rail comes up with better quality evidence for its rail projects.

Sorry, but Oxford is appalling for cycling in - ask Richard Fairhurst of this parish!

The longer I live here, the more I realise that there is more than one Bristol (oh, grow up you at the back!).

The central area of Bristol is increasingly cycle-friendly, with rapidly improving separate cycling infrastructure. On Cheltenham Road in the rush hour, bicycles seem to outnumber cars.

Clifton, Cotham and Redland are not unpleasant places to cycle; I was happy to let my daughter cycle across BS6 to get to school when she was 14. But out east, or in South Glos, things are very different...
