Is it known whether these frequent TransWilts cancellations are due to No Driver or No Guard/Conductor?
In my lengthy experience of hanging around Westbury waiting for a train home to Melksham, it's often - I'd go so far as to say usually - the driver that fails to turn up when a cancellation is announced, leaving the guard looking lost and forlorn.
That experience is backed up by "usually reliable sources" that report high levels of driver sickness at Westbury, which on top of (
IMHO▸ ) an apparently inadequate staffing level to maintain a service when things are significantly impacted has lead to cancellations that leave massive gaps in the already-thin service. Comment is also made about rolling stock issues, but it's primarily that there are not enough drivers for when more than usual have called in sick.
