SevernNet - a social enterprise run by and for the businesses, community and other stakeholders across the Portbury, Avonmouth and Severnside area - has published its
Transport CharterAs well as calling for a full service at Pilning, to provide mainline rail connections between Severnside and South Wales, Gloucester, North Bristol, North Somerset and the South West, the charter also calls for:
- More services to Severn Beach to match shift patterns. Weekend services in particular need to reflect the 7 days-a-week working at nearby industry
- More connectivity through North Bristol (e.g. via Henbury Loop)
- Potential new stations at Chittening and Hallen
- New chord to allow direct service from Severn Beach to Yate
Having set out the rail backbone for public transport, the charter goes on to show how this should be integrated with buses and active travel.
