Mask wearing on and after 19th July - your personal choice

We’ve been told by our unions not to enforce mask wearing to avoid potential conflict whilst it’s been a legal requirement.
Are the unions honestly going to tell us to enforce now it’s not a legal requirement?

My heart is telling me that I will decline any passenger not wearing a mask (having asked them to put one on please) travel on my bus.
Unwilling passenger would be asked to try the next service.
However, this could/will cause potential conflict; so will I actually go through with it.

Does my learned friend above have similar thoughts?

Depends what the company want from us too?
I don’t risk conflict with any passenger, so I can’t see me enforcing it very hard

Mask wearing will remain compulsory on the tube and other London transport services after next Monday, Transport for London is to announce, as national rail and bus operators in England said they would only request passengers follow government guidance.

Unions and bus industry bodies attacked the government for its confused messaging over the changes from 19 July, when face coverings will no longer be mandatory, saying the changed rhetoric had left operators unable to plan and could put staff and services at risk.

Airlines have already indicated that they will continue to demand passengers wear masks, and cross-Channel train service Eurostar has now said it will make mask-wearing a condition of carriage, from check-in at London St Pancras station.

Things next week will be confusing, certainly on the local train services and stations between Paddington and Reading. 

The Mayor for London has mandated the wearing of face coverings on all TfL^» (Transport for London - about) services and stations where as GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) will, likely, follow the Government and National Rail Association guidance of individuals choice.

So from next week if you are travelling in and around London be mindful of who operates the trains and stations you use, TfL GE & GW^» (Great Western - used as an abbreviation for the area / lines under the Great Western franchise, as opposed to FGW which includes "First", the company operating them too. For tickets - about) Crossrail, London Overground will still require face coverings

So different policies when travelling on stopping services between Reading and Paddington, depending on whether you're on a TfL^» (Transport for London - about) or GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) service? (Unless GWR follows suit.)

Yesterday I took the X39 from Bristol to not-quite-Bath and later the 39 back from not-quite-Bristol to Bristol. No sooner had we left Bristol than there was an automated announcement, "I'm Dan Norris, metromayor for the West of England. Thank you for wearing a face covering. Together, let's keep all our communities safe." As I appeared to be the only person on board wearing a face covering, I felt personally thanked. The first time. After the announcement had repeated twenty-nine times, it was really annoying.

Yesterday I went to Cardiff, where mask wearing is compulsory on all public transport. That would be why only one person in the carriage from Bristol was not wearing one, and also the only person on the bus we took in Cardiff without a mask was the driver. Except that almost everyone who got off at Temple Meads was also masked (train had started in Westbury). And the return journey most people were unmasked. So I'm not sure what to conclude there.

I have recently had house guests from Hong Kong, who wore masks at all times outside the house, even on Exmoor, and in the car with my wife and I, when leaving our house, where minutes before, we had been sat chatting, entirely bare-faced. Some nations take this more seriously than we do.

To be fair, there can be smells worth filtering out when around Exmoor. Lots of bovine aromas around the fringes of the moor. I make no comment on their mask choices in your vacinity.
