This could be a tough one, but whenever I say that, someone gets it quickly.

EDIT: Line or nearest station will do.

Eek, that's a toughie but is that a road sign that I see indicating that a motorway lurks nearby?

I think you're looking at the pub sign.

Bah, foiled again....but the priceless new clue that I have gleaned from that is that it's near a pub!

Its near a railway and at a level crossing - that narrows it down to a few thousand places Smiley

Looks to me to be on the "Great British Railways" network rather than on a heritage / private line.   Does that narrow it down further?

Is it on the bignosemac-esque stomping ground of Salisbury-Exeter?

Full barriers suggest busy main road but on edge of town/village, CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) remote control from panel box, non-OHLE. Pub suggests station is/was nearby.

We're a bit further afield. A clue...

Good god - Is it really? I used to go through there quite a bit when my dad took me to Fontwell Racecourse as a kid.

I did peer at that poor little pixel-deprived pub sign trying to work out what it was, but didn't come up with the feathers. But that would have been a good strategy, since if you put "the prince of wales"  level crossing into a Google image search, Woodgate is at the top of the page. It's not the same view, but it is a modest flint-faced building with brick quoins.

"But" (I hear you cry) "it's Westergate, not Woodgate!". Actually, the little bit round the crossing with the pub in is called Woodgate, and had only a few houses when the railway station wasn't built there,  Westergate is a bit further north, and bigger - big enough to count as a village then.
