It is, as you say, astonishingly deceptive

Hmm.  For the benefit of (m)any of our readers and members here who might be interested in those various 'perspective' images, may I offer some background information?

My colleague 'Red Squirrel' is remarkably tall, for a squirrel: if he stands up on his hind legs (which he does, occasionally Wink ) he's about 6 foot 12 (in old money).

So, if he then holds his camera above his head to get a picture, he can achieve a perspective that the rest of us would need a serious step-ladder to emulate.

Thanks, Tim.  Grin

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

We have given a significant grant to @NetworkRail Great Western Route to support their restoration of the former first class waiting room at Grade 1 listed Bristol Temple Meads so it was good to see the project after the interior had been cleared prior to restoration starting.

Curiosity about the above got the better of me so I enquired with Network Rail about what was going to happen.  Here's their reply to my enquiry regarding what was planned:

"Work is due to start in the next 4-8 weeks and its hoped to be completed this year.  Once works are underway, our retail property team will be marketing and seeking to find a new tenant for the refurbished space."
