20. I think it’s James Cook. (I also reckon the name previously included “University Hospital”.)
The adjacent footbridge was already in place so it wasn’t new with the station, and therefore looks quite old.

Yes, it is. One of the few stations named after a person? James Cook, Victoria, Paddington (after a bear) ...

Just the one left ... and we have established that the clue to this one is that there's a wide range of other stuff at the same place, some very different to rail related. 14.

Just saw this in among all the reports of IET▸ problems on the recent posts thread and thought for a moment Graham was proposing it as an IET replacment.

Hm. That looks like the decomposing remains of a DH6, one of which is in a museum at Coventry Airport. No idea if there is any railway stuff there, or a model of what looks like the Beatles' Yellow Submarine.

Well, my Random Access Memory* did come up with a very tentative "Ireland - and seen in a previous quiz?" for that - but Google couldn't find any supporting evidence. If only I could tell when those vague recollections are actually right.
That quiz was in 2018, and someone did recognise it then. At the time, Graham said "I will start a separate thread on Dromod rather than clutter up here." So I guess this thread has evolved to become that promised one?
* It's random whether it comes up with anything at all.

Indeed - I think it *has* evolved in that way. Guess I gave no timescale on that thread from three years ago. A fascinating place and visit - stumble upon almost by accident - a graveyard of industrial / transport heritage which needs tender loving care, which the people there wish and try to give, but don't have a financial model or team enough to do. I really wish to go back sometime. I do often feel that my fascination with Ireland and it's railed transport is rather off topic on the Coffee Shop and it's something I tend to share only in digestible chunks ...

It's a fascination shared by all who have been there, especially those with an Irish surname.

A frantically busy few days on the forum just at the moment, and elsewhere too (some unexpected things!) but probably worth a significant ask around to members about how much we should cover some of the tangential subjects. Personally I would love to make another trip to Ireland ....
