Just in case anyone wondered, GWR (Great Western Railway) made contingency arrangements (unpublished) to cope with any additional demand between Slough and Windsor that may have materialised over the last few days.  That consisted of a 3-car train instead of the usual 2-car, a hot spare in case of failure, and drivers rostered to increase the service from 2tph to 3tph if necessary.

In the event there was little extra demand as most people heeded the advice to stay away, however it’s a good example of the sort of contingency planning that goes on that you might not hear about.
