Its sad that I am starting to notice these things (getting very difficult to convince family and friends that I AM NOT A TRAIN SPOTTER anymore)

Yesterday, driving from home to Torchwood in Solihull I am going parallel to the rail line to Kiddie

Over on the tracks I can see a loco hauling a very weird mix of HST▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) stock

Several burgundy ones (sorry not that much of a train spotter)
And several all in old BR▸ (British Rail(ways)) livery

Must have been about 11 cars in total.

Where were they going since they were heading into FGW▸ (First Great Western) territory and I dont recall anyone saying FGW were getting more HST stock?

Maybe MK2's.
Burgundy would be the ones in Wessex livery and I think their are some BR▸ (British Rail(ways)) ones.

Mookiemoo, I do sympathise!

I was subjected to howls of mirth at work when I happened to mention that I'd jotted down the number of the ATW▸ (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) unit that I'd seen doing the Nailsea to Taunton service last week - actually, just so I could post it here! Until I joined this forum, I too just saw 'trains' as 'blue ones' or 'burgundy ones', 'long ones', 'short ones', or 'skips'.

I've since learned, however, that the correct term for 'skip' is 'a Class 143'.

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

Class 67 is commonly referred to as a 'skip'  the 143's are 'skippers'  Wink

Its likely that they were Mk1/2s returning from a charter service over the weekend.
