Please post just one answer each - at least for the first 24 hours.  Extra information about what and why are very welcome with your answers

1. Just three direct trains per day, Monday to Friday, from "X" to "Y" - at 05:59, 06:23 and 07:01.  And just 2 back from "Y" to "X" at 19:18 and 19:38.  "X" and "Y" are in the same county; you can travel between them at other times of day, but have to double back outside the county.

2. Eastbound on Mondays to Saturday at 06:26, 12:21, 13:59 and 17:24. Westbound at 11:17, 13:22, 16:02  and 20:18. Sundays just at 13:24 westbound and 15:25 eastbound.

3. Trains leave from this terminal platform only at at 08:16, 08:36, 15:28 and 15:46 on Mondays to Fridays. On Saturday they're at 08:33, 09:21, 15:25 and 15:46.  No service at all on Sundays at the moment.

4. After a journey of an hour, a train from a city calls at 06:06. Local calls at 06:37 and 18:59, then a 19:14 service back to the city.

5. A train at 07:55 to the city, and another at 19:56.  One arrives back at 18:53. They're all Monday to Saturday only.

6. 08:25, 18:40, 20:40, 21:40, 22:36 and 23:32 inbound, 16:23, 17:25, 19:27 and 21:30 outbound. Similar service on Saturday; fewer evening trains but more daytime trains on Sunday.

7. Monday to Friday last week, trains left for Xxx at 10:29, 13:16, 15:16, 17:25, 19:28 and 21:32.   This week, they will be at 07:18, 09:23, 11:18, 13:16, 15:16, 17:25, 19:28 and 21:32.

8. Trains to the seaside at 08:01 and 12:03, getting back at 15:24 (15:19 on Saturdays).  08:01, 10:03, 12:03 and 14:01 on Sundays, back at 08:24, 10:24, 12:24 and 14:24.

9. Trains leave at 08:53 and 17:56 to the junction 20 minutes away, and get back at 09:54 and 18:54

10. The next train is at 08:55 next Saturday, the following one an hour later.  Then nothing until after Christmas.

5 Melksham?

It could almost have been that in the olden days!   But, no.   To qualify the question - those times listed with the question are the ONLY trains that call there.

Would have thought that, wouldn't you?  It isn't - there are two other stations with just as few trains.  But at least they have one each way ...

Indeed. The train is stabled at Waterford and makes a morning run up and back via Tipperary to Limerick Junction (where you have to change for another train for the final stretch into Limerick).  Gets put in the siding at Waterford through much of the day before another late afternoon round trip.

Good for days out - perhaps shopping - in Waterford or Limerick, or via connection in Cork.  Good for longer distance journeys where you're out one day and back another - leave in the morning, arrive another afternoon.  Work and education use - very limited.

Yep ... the station with the lowest ticketed entrances and exits of all last year, probably because line (and thus the station) was closed until February, and rail replacement road transport is not practical there.

Indeed - and what a difference having a train actually on the line before late morning can make!

Yes ... there is now scope in Stalybridge for sale of a guide book "How to spend an hour in Denton". Anyone who has been to Denton might appreciate it would be of limited interest only!
