Felt up to a day out beyond my local area, so I took a drive to the coast today. I'd Initially planned to go to Bristol until I remembered it's in Tier 3.

The day started with me being the first customer in Templecombe's new Co-op store. Got receipt #00001! The store occupies the former Templar's Retreat public house, formerly the Royal Wessex Hotel, formerly Worthy's Royal Hotel!

Thence to the seaside with Finn, followed by a bit of public transport location exploring. Where'd I go?

A.

A quick look at your profile confirms pic A. So I'll give you that. Hinton Admiral.

As for B, thanks for not answering. Let's see if anyone else knows.

Okay, I'm pretty sure I've got the second one....call it an inspired/lucky starting guess which helped me narrow it down until I found a picture that seems to match online. I'll give others a chance as I just fluked it.

Yes, I concur. At first I thought it might be a tram turntable and I knew from the first part of the quiz that this was Dorset way. A lucky search for "tram turntable Dorset" brought up a picture that disabused me of the tram nonesense.

Yep. One of very few such turntables ever used in the UK (United Kingdom). It's believed that this one in Christchurch is the last surviving one. It's now in the courtyard of a gated retail/residential development so you can't get to it. I photographed it through a security gate. A resident was exiting said gate when I was there and I asked if I could pop through and quickly take a few close up pictures. Sadly that request was refused. The turntable was listed in 1976 which explains why subsequent development has surrounded it, with it remaining in situ.

I had visited the location some years ago to photograph it but on that occasion there was building work going on and the courtyard was hidden behind hoardings.

If you want to watch the turntable in action then there are a few videos on YouTube taken from old cine footage. One such video, including a great deal of footage of the Bournemouth Corporation Trolleybuses, is this:

The turntable can first be seen around the 3m40s mark.

Also, an ITV Meridian news report from the mid 2000s:
