Where were you five years ago today?

One of my pictures from 1st May 2015 ... which was a Friday like today.   I won't be asking the same question over the weekend ... so your memories of May Day holidays from 5 years ago - the whole weekend - very welcome as follow ups.

On Sunday 3rd May 2015 I went on an 11 mile walk from Iver Heath to West Drayton via Pinewood Studios perimeter, Black Park and Langley Park.
You'll notice an oddity near the M25 where the pre-planned route I followed was to take me on a pedestrian bridge over the Grand Union canal. Unfortunately when I got there I found the bridge was no longer there and I had to backtrack and take an alternative routing.

I suspect I was doing the Henley Arts Trail. Not very train related apart from a trip on the Henley branch line which is always a nice little journey when not packed with commuters.

Or working a night shift in preparation for 2015 Election programme. Or quite possibly both.

On Saturday the 2nd I took a trip by Train to Walton on the Naze. While there I walked about 7 Miles. The only notable event I can remember was that some greasy Kebab/Chip shop burnt down around lunchtime causing great exitment for the locals.

Unlike my trip to Budleigh Salterton a few years earlier when I spotted a car on fire it wasn't me who called the fire brigade.

on the way back I walked through Colchester from Colchester town to Colchester North.

On my way to work on a No. 7 or 23 bus having departed Paddington and passing the satellite TV vans outside of St Mary's Hospital awaiting the arrival of Princess Charlotte who was born the day after.

I was busy building community support for a Wiltshire Bus Quality Contracts Scheme which - in collaboration with grahame and others - ultimately became the Option 24/7 proposal.

Saturday afternoon - 8km walk on the Downs, rewarded by sightings of Curlew and two Wheatears. Looking forward to holiday of a lifetime visiting wetland sites in Belarus later that month,

We were doing some amazing things 5 years ago from passing near the royal child to Bylarus planning and Newark, planning buses and walking from East Anglia to Cornwall via the Thames Valley.

First in an occasional series, perhaps ... I'll find a different number of years back in due course.

Our members never cease to amaze me!
