Guess so - knowing the speaker, foremost the trains then the infrastructure. The Society's website gives little clue yet - https://www.chippenhamcivicsociety.co.uk/next-society-meeting/

Update: John will cover the current Great Western Railway modernisation project. His talk will focus on the electrification of the Great Western Main Line and the replacement of the HSTs▸ (High Speed Trains) by the new InterCity Express Trains.
He will also cover many aspects of the project including the modernisation of Reading Station, the work done on the Box Tunnel and Bath Station. The electrification project has been subject to serious delays and cost overruns but there have been many positive achievements as well. It will be copiously illustrated with many of John’s own photographs.

Is this a 'just turn up ' event or do we need to register?

It's the same group (I think) where I attended a previous lecture ... guests welcome, I seem to recall a £2 fee. I have, however, asked for confirmation and will post up here. If a possy is likely to be going, polite (of course) to let them know.

There is £2 entry for non-members of the Civic Society, payable on arrival. I look forward to seeing you there. Now ... my big question is "will the talk be over in time to catch the 9 O'Clock?"

Thanks - knew I had seen a note / offer somewhere. At this late stage (answering on the day of the talk) probably best for me to drive rather than to try and co-ordinate. Car on charge to ensure I'm CO2 friendly.
