The National Rail Enquiries app on my phone has stopped working. I uninstalled it and downloaded it again but no joy. Can anyone suggest either a way to fix it or recommend an alternative? The website still works but it's useful to have access to it when out and about. Thanks!

Phone type (iPhone, Android)? Operating system version?

The National Rail app is working fine for me on Android 9.0 (Pie).

I've also found Journey Check goes AWOL (Absent WithOut Leave) (with a message that its server cannot be reached) more frequently lately. Is this linked?

Android. Version 4.2.2 according to the 'about' blurb.

4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) is, I believe, no longer supported by Google Play Services. That Android OS (Ordnance Survey) is nearly 7 years old. and its possible that some app developers also aren't supporting it with new or updated apps.

You may well find other apps starting to misbehave.

If your phone can be updated to a newer version of Android (I'd suggest at least 6.0 Marshmallow) I'd try that. Otherwise I fear its going to be a newer device.

I feared it might be something like that! I think the phone itself is about five years old. I'll look into updating it in one way or another.
