Organiser Geoff Endacott said that ironically there were no trains to Chippenham due to engineering works, which resulted in a drop in numbers attending the show.
The annual Trainwest Model Railway Exhibition was held at the Springfield Community Campus, Corsham on Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14.
TrainWest was a fixture at Christie Miller in Melksham for many years with vintage buses running from Chippenham Station, then from both Melksham and Chippenham when there were trains back during the day at Melksham. It ended with the impending closure of Christie Miller and a smaller (so not suitable) area being provided at the new Campus.
Sadly, I understand that the organiser Geoff Endacott passed away suddenly from a heart attack on 19th February; I didn't really know him, but our few interactions were positive and fruitful and he will be missed from all his organising work of which TrainWest was rather a side issue.
My friend David Preston writes
Just found out the very sad news that a friend, Geoff Endacott passed away on 19th Feb 2021.
Geoff passed away suddenly and unexpectedly when he was admitted to A&E in Swindon and whilst under assessment suffered a heart attack. Unfortunately they were unable to revive him.
RIP.
He was 62.
Geoff was heavily involved in amateur dramatics in Chippenham and booked musical acts for the Neeld in Chippenham as well as the Bentley Model Railway club in Calne. I knew him in the Wiltshire Social Club as he was unmarried and was looking for a partner. The last time I saw him was at a concert at St Andrew’s Church in December 2019 with the Wiltshire Police band. He used to come along with his father. He came along to meals and other socials in the social group.
