Watched the live GWR▸ broadcast on Facebook which I believe you can now watch on their page if you missed it. Look out for someone early in the broadcast wearing a blue shirt, flat cap with a delightful little dog by the name of Finn who was briefly interviewed.
Worth going to the end of the video as the presenter and cameraman were in the rear cab filming the last scheduled departure from Paddington. I must confess I shed a tear or two as the train pulled out.

I managed to get a few words with Mark Hopwood before he bailed at Didcot Parkway. I'll post that video early next week when my broadband is switched on in my new flat. Saving my mobile data for the rest of the weekend and to upload pics later.
I did chat with Sir Kenneth Grange too - about dogs! He'd probably had enough of being asked questions about his iconic design, so a chat about canines was probably a relief for him. He's 93 you know! (Sir Ken, not Finn)

I took a very quick jaunt from Charlbury to Kingham: https://twitter.com/richardf/status/1129819175873077248The HST▸ was running perfectly to time, which was a relief given that I had a two-minute connection for my return train! New stickers (in Rail Alphabet) all over the vestibule droplights exhorting people not to dangle their heads out the windows. The CIS▸ at Charlbury was showing "#FarewellHST", which I thought was a nice touch. |

A friend and I did the last Up train from Plymouth (08 51), went to Topsham, Exeter, Teignmouth and Newton Abbot before getting the last down one from there back to Plymouth. Surprised it wasn't a bit more of an occasion in the far South West but really pleased we did both trains. Looking forward to the charter in a fortnight's time.

Are there any other forum members booked on the railtour?

Top marks to GWR▸ for allowing 'Flying Banana' ticket holders to travel to and from the charter from across the GWR network on scheduled GWR services on Friday, Saturday, Sunday at no additional cost.
I've now been able to amend my plans. Instead of driving to my intended start point of Swindon (where I'm staying with a fellow forum member) I will now be taking the train from Castle Cary on Friday afternoon, returning on Sunday morning. Three days parking at Castle Cary (which is a few miles from home in Templecombe) is far cheaper than the petrol needed to drive to and from Swindon.
